Just like laying out in the sun too long, there are many dangers of using tanning beds. Tanning beds omit the same UVA and UVB rays as the sun. Sometimes, tanning beds will have lamps in them that actually omit more damaging rays in them than the sun does itself. We need to be careful when choosing to use tanning beds.

What Kind of Lamps Does Your Salon Use?

Most tanning salons have switched to much safer lamps and bulbs that emit both UVA and UVB rays in them to make for a safer, more balanced tan. However, some salons do still use lamps that omit mostly UVB rays, which are the most dangerous. Ask your salon owner what kind of lamps and bulbs they use and how much UVA and UVB rays they give off. You might be better off going to a different salon.

Dangers of Ultraviolet Rays

The sun naturally gives off both UVA and UVB rays, which causes damage to our skin. Both the sun’s rays and a tanning bed’s rays can and does cause skin damage, and if exposed for periods of time over years, it can cause skin cancer. A tan is actually one sign of skin damage, just as a sunburn is. It can also cause damage to your eyes, your immune system, and more. However, skin cancer is the most common risk factor in using tanning beds, especially for those with naturally fair skin and/or red hair. That does not mean that those of darker colored skin tones are off the hook. We should all take the same precautions when using a tanning bed. There are three types of skin cancer tanning can cause. These include Melanoma, Basal Cell Carcinoma, and Squamos Cell Carcinoma.

Increasing Risks of Skin Cancer

Years before, skin cancer was mostly seen in the elderly. However, more and more teens are getting skin cancer probably due to the overuse of tanning beds. The World Health Organization along with the National Institute of Health released a statement about this very problem saying that they do not recommend the use of tanning beds in anyone under the age of eighteen.

Although there are no laws in place for the use of tanning beds, most tanning salons do enforce their own rules about tanning. Stay safe and healthy.

Tanning bed lotion is vital to apply to your skin before and after every time you use a tanning bed. You should apply the tanning bed lotion at least one hour before your session and then again immediately after you get out of the tanning bed.

Why Is It A Must To Use Lotion After Using A Tanning Bed?

Tanning bed lotions will help protect your skin and even speed up the process of obtaining a tan. Every tanning bed lotion contains a very important moisturizer to help keep your skin hydrated when tanning. And if you want to help protect your skin from wrinkles and fine lines use a tanning bed moisturizer that contains vitamin E. All tanning bed lotions should have vitamin E in them, but just check the ingredients to be sure. This vitamin can do a lot to protect your skin from damage. This will also help protect your skin from getting dry or even peeling.

Ingredients to Look For In Tanning Bed Lotions

Another ingredient you should see is tyrosine. This helps working with vitamin E to keep your skin from peeling and getting fine lines and wrinkles.

Copper is another ingredient you should see in your tanning bed lotion. This will help keep your skin color the same by getting rid of blemishes and even reducing the visibility of scars. Copper and tyrosine also work together to produce important brain chemicals that can even have an anti-depressant effect. This could even explain why a lot of regular tanners experience a good feeling when tanning.

You should also see that your tanning bed lotion contains Aloe Vera, hempseed oil, and other nutrient ingredients that will help to protect your skin during your tanning sessions.

Different Types of Tanning Bed Lotions

There are different types of tanning bed lotions you can choose from. You could simply use one before your tanning session that contains tyrosine and other ingredients to help speed up the tanning process on the skin. There is also some that just contain the preventative and helpful ingredients like vitamin E, Aloe Vera, and hempseed oil so your skin stays protected from damage and moisturized.

You can even find a tanning bed lotion that is scented. What is your favorite scent? You can have it right in your tanning session. Some come scented like chocolate, coffee, lime, and many more.

People are generally concerned about the way they look. It seems to be human nature as it goes way back in time. It is widely accepted that a thin woman or a nicely built man with bronze colored skin is attractive; therefore people have a desire to meet that by tanning. The media has a tremendous effect on woman and young teens on how a woman or teen should look. Women tend to take on this pressure and try to meet it. Many white women are using tanning solutions to get a darker skin tone without thinking about the possible consequences.

There are benefits to using a tanning bed instead of the sun for a tan, but there are also disadvantages. A tan is actually what happens to the skin when it is damaged, but this is just a short-term effect. The long-term effects should also be considered when tanning.

Dangers Associated With Tanning

UV radiation is dangerous. This is ultraviolet light that comes from the sun and tanning bed lamps. The sun gives off two different kinds of ultraviolet light known as UVA and UVB. UVA radiation is generally the more dangerous UV light because it penetrates the skin with a much deeper effect and tans the skin faster than UVB light. UVA light have longer wavelengths and too much exposure over a long period of time can be extremely dangerous. UVB wavelengths are shorter and only affect the outermost layers of the skin. Skin damage occurs when one has been overexposed to UVA lights. This UV radiation can cause skin cancer and other skin problems. You will burn faster under UVA lights, which are in tanning beds because it takes less time to get a tan. The sun lamps in tanning beds give off anywhere from 93% to 99% of UVA lights, which is actually about three times that of which the sun gives off.

You should tan in moderation and take every precaution when tanning. The more sunburns you have, the more likely you are to get skin cancer. The more exposure you have to UVA radiation, the more likely you are to get skin cancer. There are also some things you were born with that pose a risk for skin cancer (red hair, fair skin, moles, etc.) that you don’t have much control over. However, you do have control over how much exposure you have with UVA lights, and you should use the precautions necessary. Having a year round tan isn’t worth getting skin cancer over.

Most tanning beds today fortunately have less UVA lights, and omit both UVA and UVB. This means less exposure to bad rays and a better moderation. Some salons also have limits on how long you can stay in the tanning bed to help moderate the way people tan. This can be much more safe for you rather than hanging out at the beach all day!

So, you are considering buying a new tanning bed, but aren’t sure where to begin. As a very niche market, buying a home tanning bed can be overwhelming and confusing. You just have to know where to look and have the right questions ready to ask.

First and Foremost, Do Your Homework

You certainly would not buy a blender if you did not know anything about them. Sure, you know you can make shakes, but blenders have more options and features than that. You have to consider your budget and what you want from your blender. Some blenders can chop or even crush ice. Is that a feature you want to have, or will it be useless for you? Do not pay for an extra feature if you are never going to use it.

So, do your homework on tanning beds before you even set out to buy one. You should know just about everything there is to know about tanning beds. Here are some questions to get you started on learning all about tanning beds –

How does a tanning bed work?
What is the difference between lamps, bulbs and natural lights for tanning beds?
How much does a tanning bed typically cost?
What are some extra features you can get on a tanning bed?
What is the most basic tanning bed you can get?

With the answers to these questions you will learn all you can about tanning beds (along with your own questions and concerns added in), and be better off when searching for your own tanning bed. You can simply do the research online to learn about tanning beds, or you could even ask some experts. The next time you are near a salon take a trip into the store and see if you can ask someone about tanning beds. Make sure they are actually knowledgeable about them. With more knowledge and understanding about tanning beds you will find it easier to find the best tanning bed for you.

Buying a new tanning bed rather than used is usually the best option to go for. Buying new will cost about the same, come with warranties, come with return policies, and will come straight from the manufacturer when you buy wholesale.

Buying Your Home Tanning Bed Wholesale

You can save hundreds and even thousands when you buy a tanning bed wholesale. You can buy from an online store wholesale or you can get in direct contact with the manufacturer to buy a tanning bed at wholesale. This is the best way to go in order to get out of paying retail prices and getting the same quality product for much less.

Buying a Tanning Bed for Your Home or Business

Depending on whether you are buying a tanning bed for your home or business could change your needs. If you are buying for your home it will be a one time thing, and you should buy wholesale from an online store. If you are buying a tanning bed for your business you should contact the manufacturer directly to get discounts for allowing them to advertise, and even to help sell their products.

You can buy a used tanning bed, but there are some things you should look out for. You can locate used tanning beds in classifieds. If you want to pick it up yourself you should check your paper’s local listings or even classified listings that are regional on the Internet. You will not have to wait for the tanning bed to be delivered, because you are buying it used from the owner and will just have to pick it up yourself.

Reasons People Could Be Selling Used Tanning Beds

They are moving and do not want to take the tanning bed with them
The person’s tanning salon could be going out of business
They could be simply not satisfied with the tanning bed and want to sell it

These are all okay reasons for selling a used tanning bed, except for the last one. Why is the person not satisfied with the tanning bed?

You could be getting a really great deal by buying a used tanning bed, or you could be getting yourself into something that will cost you time, money and stress.

Six Questions for the Seller

Why are they selling the tanning bed?
How long have they had the tanning bed?
Where did they buy the tanning bed?
What is wrong with the tanning bed?
Are there any (even cosmetic) problems with the tanning bed?
Do they still have the owner’s manual?

Make sure you are very thorough with all of the questions and concerns you may have when you spot a used tanning bed for sale and contact the seller. The seller should be more than happy to divulge your questions. If they are not happy with your questions, it could be a sign that something is wrong with the used tanning bed.

Learn About Tanning Beds Before You Buy

If you have never owned a tanning bed before or do not know much about them, do your homework before you buy. Learn as much as you can about tanning beds before you consider buying a used one. Think of it as getting your car fixed. The less you know the more money you could be conned out of. If you are smart about buying a used tanning bed you could find a great deal.

Let’s face it: Used tanning beds can be dangerous. If you are considering purchasing a used tanning bed you need to read this article first. It is highly advised that you do not buy a used tanning bed. Unlike new tanning beds, used tanning beds can have one or more major defects in them. Just think about why someone would want to get rid of a tanning bed in the first place. It must not be useful anymore, it is probably broken, and the person selling it or giving it away is probably planning on buying a new one to replace this used one.

Are You Trying To Reduce Your Money Spent On A Used Tanning Bed?

Unfortunately, buying a used tanning bed can (and usually is) just as expensive as buying a new tanning bed. Your used tanning bed will not come with a warranty from the manufacturer. You could be buying a used tanning bed that is just plain defective, and you have no one to return it to or to replace it.

You can get brand new tanning beds for usually just a little more money than a used one that will come with one or more warranties, return policies, possible product guarantees, and more. If you find that your new tanning bed is defective you can return it according to the company’s return policies.

You will get a tanning bed that works the way it is supposed to, a new one that has not been used by other people. Do you really want a tanning bed that has been used by strangers? You can clean it all you want, you will still think of others lying in it just as you would while you are trying to relax and tan at the same time. It does not sound like a tasteful decision. You can get a way better quality tanning bed for around the same price you would pay for a used one when you buy a new one. Even if you want to buy a used one and have it repaired you could find that it either can’t be repaired or have spent way more than you should have.

Many people try to save money by buying used products, and it can be a huge money saver. However, when it comes to your hygiene and a large expense like this you are way better off buying a new tanning bed than a used one. You will spend about the same amount of money but get one that has not been used by others, and comes with warranties and return policies. You will have a better peace of mind buying new instead of used when it comes to tanning beds. Save yourself time, money and stress by buying new tanning beds.

Lately, it seems that everyone is using tanning beds and hitting the tanning salons more and more often. But, heading down to the salon each day can be a timely and costly trip. With packages that range from $3 to $20 per session, hitting the tanning beds each day adds up fast. So, if you are one of those avid tanners, you might be considering purchasing a tanning bed for your home to save you some cash. New tanning beds are often expensive, although they end up paying for themselves in no time. So, often, tanners opt for a cheaper way to find a great tanning bed – wholesale.

There are many shops all over the nation that sell wholesale tanning beds to everyone from salons to individuals. You can easily search online to find some in your area, or to just find the best deals. Usually, vendors that advertise online have a bigger sales base than local wholesalers. When you order through an online vendor, you can usually get a cheaper price, but you will have to pay shipping and handling, which can add up quick. So, you can often call in to place your order and find out if there are any other larger orders heading toward your area. If so, most wholesalers will allow individuals to add their tanning bed to that order to save on shipping and handling.

Another option on wholesalers is to find one in your area. If you are close to a large city, you should be able to find several wholesalers that you can speak to about getting a cheap tanning bed through them. Some will have great deals on overstocks that they need to clear out, used tanning beds, demos, and other deals that you might not find online since the wholesaler in your area actually has the bed there and needs to move it. Another plus to finding a wholesaler in your area is that there is not much involved in the shipping process. You won’t have the monster fees for shipping a new tanning bed that you would from an online resource.

If you are searching out a wholesaler and can’t seem to find one that is cheap enough to purchase from, you can always just get in touch with the manufacturer personally. Sometimes, you can find great deals from them on overstocks, demos, and even new models that they are needed to test out before they mass market them to salons. Purchasing directly from the manufacturer is a great way to get a discounted tanning bed. While some manufacturers are easier to work with than others, call them all and see what type of deal they can offer you if you purchase directly from them, instead of going through a vendor or wholesaler. Sometimes, you can even get a great deal on your shipping costs!

Just remember to check around and consider all your options before you strike a deal and plop down your hard-earned cash on a new tanning bed. Shopping around will give you the best deals and the best options!

You’re tired of heading down to the tanning salon each day, waiting in line, and taking an hour out of your daily routine. So, you’d really like to have a tanning bed in your home. You’ve looked around online, you’ve looked around in local shops, and you just don’t want to spend that much money on a brand new tanning bed. Now what? Should you buy a used tanning bed, or just continue to go to the salon each day? Purchasing a used tanning bed isn’t a problem, but there are a few things that you should know before you purchase one from either an individual or a company.

Remember when you are looking around at used tanning beds that they are no longer under any type of factory or shop warranty. Usually, the owner has had them for several years and has purchased a new one. So, you want to try to find out where the tanning bed was used before you purchase it. Purchasing one from an individual, or one that was owned by an individual, will be a better buy than one that was used in a tanning salon, as these are used hundreds of times a week. And, when the bed begins to burn out, you stand a higher risk for burns and other injuries.

Before you buy a used tanning bed, ask to try out all the features first. Have the salesperson or individual turn on the bed and make sure that all the bulbs work, the timer (if automatic) works, and that the fans work as well. (Make sure that you wear your eye protection when checking out a used tanning bed to ensure that you don’t damage your eyes.) Check all the wiring and outside of the tanning bed for obvious problems, cracks, frays, and other flaws that might cause a hazard to your or your home when you are using it. If you see flaws that would cause a major problem, don’t purchase the tanning bed.

If you do find a used tanning bed that you feel is in great working order and decide to purchase it, a good rule is to replace all the bulbs before you use it. Even if the owner says that they have replaced them all recently, you never know. Burnt out bulbs can cause injuries, burns, and can damage the bed itself if not replaced in a timely manner, so better safe than sorry on this issue.

Keep in mind that if you do purchase a used tanning bed, you will not be able to return it (unless there is a 30-60-90 day warranty from a store). So, if anything does go wrong with your bed, you are stuck with a piece of equipment that you won’t be able to use. To ensure that you aren’t placed in this predicament, make sure that you are able to test out the tanning bed before you purchase it. Just following some common sense rules of thumb when you are searching for a used tanning bed will help you to make the right decision.

And, remember, sometimes it is best just to go ahead and purchase a discount or wholesale new tanning bed than waste money on a used one.
